Organization and Billing¶
Teams work in InvestLens as an organization: a group of member accounts sharing one plan. Two pages support this — the Org Console for managing people, and Billing for managing the subscription that gives them access.
1. Org Console¶
Address: https://app.investlens.ca/org/console
The team-management hub. It is visible only to accounts whose plan supports more than one seat — a single-seat plan has no team to manage.
1.1 Who can use it¶
- Organization owners and admins.
- Regular members and billing-only users do not manage the team here.
1.2 What you can do¶
- See the current plan, its seat limit and admin limit, and how many seats and admin roles are in use.
- View the list of members with their roles and status, and search members.
- Invite a new member by full name and email.
- Change a member's role.
- Activate or deactivate a member. Deactivating frees up a seat.
- View and manage pending invitations, including revoking one that has not been accepted yet or removing an old one from the list.
1.3 Limits and rules¶
- Adding or activating members is limited by the plan's seat and admin limits. At the limit, either free up a seat by deactivating someone or move to a plan with more seats.
- Managing members requires the organization to have a plan assigned. A newly set-up organization that has not paid yet can still have members added, but those members cannot use the product until the plan is paid and active — see Billing.
- Only the owner can change an owner's role or transfer ownership (promoting another member to owner steps the current owner down). Admins can manage other members' roles but cannot change an owner's role or make someone an owner.
- The owner cannot be deactivated from the Org Console, and you cannot deactivate yourself — an owner or admin has to deactivate someone else's membership.
2. Billing¶
Address: https://app.investlens.ca/org/{org_id}/billing
Where an organization's subscription is managed: viewing the current plan, choosing or changing a plan, paying, and reviewing invoices.
2.1 Who can use it¶
Users with the billing role, and organization owners. Regular members do not see the billing page.
2.2 What you can do¶
- See the current plan and status, its start date (when the plan takes effect and billing begins), and the next payment date.
- Choose or change the plan and start checkout.
- Pay on Stripe's hosted checkout page. Payment details are entered on Stripe and are not stored by InvestLens.
- Review past invoices and their status, with links to the hosted invoice and PDF. Invoice links stay usable over time — a stored link that has aged past Stripe's expiry window is refreshed automatically when opened, so older receipts remain accessible.
- Open a single subscription's full invoice history with the Invoices button in the billing table. The table shows one row per subscription, but a subscription accrues many invoices over its life (creation, renewals, prorations, payment retries). This view lists every invoice recorded for that subscription, most recent first, and reconciles the stored history with Stripe when opened so recent invoices appear. It can be searched by status, sorted by date, amount, or status, and paged.
- Cancel the subscription. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; access continues until then.
2.3 The billing table¶
Columns are Plan, Seats, Admins, Start, End, Next payment, Status, and Actions.
Next payment shows the upcoming charge date for a live subscription — during a trial, when the first charge lands. It shows "–" for ended or canceled subscriptions and when no charge is scheduled. For the current subscription this date is reconciled with Stripe each time the billing page is opened, so it stays accurate.
2.4 How access and payment work¶
- An organization needs an active (paid or trialing) plan for its members to use the product.
- With no active plan, billing users are prompted to pay to unlock access. Other members are blocked until it is active and told to contact their organization owner.
- A plan may be set to start in the future, in which case the organization is on a free trial until that date and billing begins then. If it is set to start today, the organization is asked to pay to activate.
- Once payment goes through, access is unlocked automatically — no need to sign out and back in.
If members of your organization suddenly cannot access features, an unpaid or inactive plan is the usual cause. Check the plan status on the billing page first.
